Nafplio - Classical Greece Cruise

We arrived in Nafplio on the evening of the 17th. Some of the points of interest in Nafplio are; Palamidi castle built in 1715 (with 999 steps).........













.....the fort of Bourtzi island fortress built in 1471.

Next day (18th) Peter climbed the 999 steps to the Bourtzi island fortress with the following view of our boat.









And went down again.

After breakfast we went to the temple at Mycenae which was one of the greatest city states of the Bronze era, before the Hellenistic period. We visited the unique 'bee hive' tomb of Atreus, the citadel treasury and the Great Museum with the belongings of Agamemnon the king who won the Trojan War.

Lions gate to the city of Mycenae which was first inhabited during neolithic times and continued to be enhabited until the end of the 3rd century AD.






























We set sail and arrived at the port of in the afternoon and visited the medieval fortified byzantine castle town at Monemvassia.

We departed late in the evening for Crete.
